Never Alone: Finding True Friendship in Jesus (Part 2)
2023 was one of the hardest years of my life—a season of heartbreak, challenges, and confusion. Yet as 2024 began, it came with a promise: the promise of healing, clarity, and a deeper walk with Christ. This year became a year of revelation and growth, and through it, Jesus taught me invaluable lessons about standing firm in my faith and the beauty of friendships rooted in Him.
Taking a Stand for Christ
One of the biggest lessons God revealed to me was the importance of taking a stand for Christ. In Revelation 3:16, God warns against being lukewarm: "So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth." This was a wake-up call for me. I realized I needed to take a firm stand for Jesus and His truth, refusing to dilute my faith to fit in or entertain worldly values that contradict His Word.
Taking a stand for Christ requires assertiveness. It means having a voice, setting boundaries, and not allowing others to pull you away from His truth. It also means being willing to let go of relationships that hinder your spiritual growth. While we are called to love, we are not called to compromise. Compassionate boundaries became essential for me—choosing to love from a distance while prioritizing my walk with God.
Creating Space for Christ
In the first few months of 2024, I began to clear out toxic influences in my life. It was a painful process, but it brought peace—peace that only Jesus can give. As I created space in my heart and life, I found myself drawing closer to Him. I spent more time in worship, prayer, and studying the Bible. I immersed myself in His Word and sought messages that deepened my understanding of His love and truth.
This season of solitude became sacred. In the stillness, I discovered Jesus in a deeper way. His presence became my solace, and His love became my source of strength. It was in this sacred space that I experienced healing, restoration, and the fulfillment of His promise: "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8).
The Gift of Godly Friendship
As I surrendered my friendships to Jesus, I began to pray differently. Instead of asking for the friends I thought were best for me, I asked for the friends He knew were best for me, who would draw me closer to Him. And in His perfect timing, He answered my prayer.
In August 2024, God brought a new friend into my life, whom I’ll call Ruth. Ruth was the friend I had been longing for—a friend who shared my love for Jesus, someone I could worship with, study the Word with, and share my spiritual journey with. We spent time meditating on Scripture, discussing God’s truths, and encouraging each other to walk in faith.
Ruth’s friendship was a reminder that when we seek God first, He provides for all our needs, including our need for companionship. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4).
The Fulfillment Found in Christ
Through this journey, I learned that Jesus is not only our greatest friend but also the source of every good gift in our lives. When we surrender completely to Him, He fills our hearts with joy, satisfies our deepest needs, and removes the mourning from our lives. His blessings often come in unexpected ways, and Ruth was one of those blessings for me.
As I look back, I see how God used this season to reshape my heart, deepen my faith, and remind me of His unfailing love. If you’re in a season of loneliness or searching for godly friendships, take heart. Seek Him first, and trust that He will provide for you in His perfect timing. True fulfillment comes not from people but from Christ—and when He is at the center, He brings the right people into your life to walk alongside you.
In Him, we are never alone.
